PEDAGOGY

I studied Pedagogy (Early Childhood Development) at two different Colleges in Brazil. I love studying about children.  Each day, I was excited to go to school and learn more about child development - how they learn, how they interact to songs, activities, solving problems, etc.  In college, we went through all of these aspects and how to make all situations more fun and educational.  This is something that has been valuable for me.  As an example, I recently picked up my 4 year old from school on a rainy day and because of the downpour, we had to wait inside a supermarket.  To avoid him getting antsy, we walked around the store and I taught him how they organize the products and shelves, where the price is, and how to read boxes.  This was much more fun and educational than just standing around waiting for the rain to stop.  I make up activities like this and tailor it depending on the child's age, as well as their personality and interests.

As a teacher, I've learned that you may have an activity planned but sometimes some subject/curiosity will come up from the children and you just have to learn how to improvise.
